Source: Britain's fattest teenager loses 15 stone at US fat camp
Georgia has done fantastically well to lose 15 stone. The health benefits from doing this will be amazing for her. However, she still weighs in at 18 stone and so she still has a long way to go. The heavier someone is in the first place, the more weight they will generally lose initially which acts as a great incentive. But unfortunately a point comes when everyone stops continuing to lose weight at the same rate by maintaining the same programme - this is called the 'weight loss plateau.' This stage is particularly difficult to deal with psychologically and steps must be taken to ensure you get your weight loss going again.
What do you do when you reach this point?
You must re-evaluate your routine. For example Georgia should not be doing the same exercise regime that she was doing when she was 15 stone heavier. She will be a lot more physically capable now and should be constantly updating her exercise program to adjust to this.
You must keep setting yourself new goals. For example, say your goal was to run 1 mile without stopping and you can now do this easily. You must set yourself a new goal, say run a mile in less than 8 minutes. It doesn't matter what it is, but it must challenge you and give you something to work towards.
