Source: Cutting calories could be the key to a longer life
This article highlights the fact that if people were to cut down on their calorie intake then they would live longer. Of course eating less calories will also mean people losing weight. However the article doesn't really address to types of foods/calories people should be cutting out. If people cut fruit and vegetables out of their diet to get rid of the extra calories their life expectancy certainly wouldn't increase.
Also, I find that the actual amount of food people eat is not the major problem. Its 'what' people choose to eat rather than 'how much' they choose to eat that causes their diet to be unhealthy and them to put on weight. Fir example lets take vegetables and biscuits. You would have to eat a far greater amount of vegetables to biscuits in order to consume the same amount of calories. So I try to encourage people not to eat less food, but make healthier choices. In this way even if they are eating more food, they are actually taking in less calories.
