As a guide we have highlighted in bold the information that you should compare when trying to decide if a food is a healthy option. To make this even easier the Foods Standards Agency has produced a set of guidelines:

The Foods Standards Agency recommends that low-fat foods contain less than 3% fat and that fat-free foods contain less than 0.5% fat. However, there aren't any legal definitions for what low-fat means, so you do need to read the label carefully as the food may still be high in sugar and other additives.
